State of the Union Event...

(This Post has been Removed Temporarily)

Hey, everybody—It is necessary to inform you that a mistake was made in the attribution of this article.  It appeared as though we reported that Dare Thompson said Dr. Farahi controls Student Org, and this MUST be clarified.

Dare did not, in fact, say that.  He told us that Student Org faces friction as a department at Kean, and that it is more difficult for the Org to operate now than three years ago before the change-over took place—but he never explained the nature of this added difficulty.  Considering that Dr. Farahi is the highest-ranking Administrator at Kean University, and that Dare admits to new problems with SO since becoming a department within the administration, you may understand how this mistake occurred.

I also would like to stress that, in writing that article, I did not intend to make it appear that Dare did make a comment about Dr. Farahi:  In all seriousness, if I was in possession of such a quote, it would be printed in the largest font that Blogger allows, bold, italicized, and—of course—in quotations.  This information was my analysis of the situation, an attempt to 'connect the dots,' if you will.

That having been said, I would like to remind you all that Dare is a "Solution-based President," and that he is "For the students."  He says that he is not afraid of the Administration and that he does not care about the them because the students are his priority.

So, to Dare as well as the rest of the Kean Student Body—
Please accept our apology.  This article will be reposted shortly with the appropriate changes made to it.

  1. I am a student at Kean University and am puzzled at what is going on with the Student Org and its President "DARE". What I don't understand is that if he says the students are "his priority" why does he not see that what the Administartion does affects the students?

  2. Dare of course does not have all the answers and cannot see what other people see and if he did, he will be GOD like.....If u don't take the time to make him see it the way u see it, u will never solve for nothing. if u are a student and u see it differently then him, then u have to try to make him understand....one thing that was said in the Post about Dare was that he is solution based....for some people they see one way and thats all...

Like Malcolm X, before he did his pilgrimage to Mecca he believed all white men and women were devils, until he realized in mecca that all men and women coexisted together and worshiped the same God(Allah)....so don't blame no one for not seeing the way u see it........peace and stay youthful

  4. Mr. Harrison all I'm saying are merely facts. Its contradictory to say that you care about the students and simultaneously saying you "don't care about the administration, the board of trustees, or lesniak".

I really loved how you compared the situation to the great freedom fighter, Malcolm X. He was up against the power that be just like we are here in Kean University. Very nice comparison Mr. Harrison.

  5. I do not wish to speak poorly of Dare--after all, he is at the head of the most important student group at Kean, and the voice of our student body. If I did not respect him and his position, this post might have remained unaltered.

It is a good point that you make, Michael, that we must try to make him see it the way we do. TBK's desire to continue a dialog with Dare is strong, and we hope it will convince him that there are larger issues at Kean than he thinks.

It is difficult to convince someone that an authority, especially one that receives him so well, is doing wrong. If you were told that your favorite teacher, for instance, was incorrect in his or her understanding of the most basic component of that class, then would you believe it?

The most promising angle from which to view this situation is from my seat, however, because I have documents on my lap that prove Kean is in no fiscal crisis, that show an 80% increase in tuition and a 150% increase in fees since 2000, that display outright how our current plan for 'restructuring' will cost us rather than save: I don't know whether Audits or OPRA Forms are more of a blessing.
